MEET JOHN
HONESTY & INTEGRITY: A NEW VISION FOR AMERICAN LEADERSHIP
I'm running for US Congress because I'm tired of the status-quo in Washington. Democrats and Republicans have turned the great responsibility of representational government into a mockery. Between the lobbyists, the lies, and the back-and-forth games of political name-calling, the American people are suffering the consequences of politicians who have no business leading this nation.
I want nothing to do with any of that. I've no interest in playing politics -- I'm interested only in seeing real results.
I may be young, but I'm not naive. I'm willing to stand up for everyday American people, regardless of the political costs.
People in this country are hurting, badly. When I look around, I see no solutions. What happened to the bold leadership of America's past? What happened to the great men and women who shaped this nation?
I'm concerned about America's vision. So many of our public policies are ill-advised, unsustainable, or downright detrimental to our citizens and our future. We desperately need the foresight to take necessary action now, or generations to come will bear the tragic blunt of our poor planning. For every action (or lack thereof) there are very real consequences.
The 21st century brings forth new opportunities for progress. The growth of technology and innovation is moving us toward a world that will perhaps be unrecognizable to us even within our own lifetime.
As technology moves us forward leaps and bounds, perhaps it is time for the role and structure of government itself to finally play catch-up.
History is filled with tales of ordinary people overcoming extraordinary circumstances and events. I believe that our current time is no exception. Our world is on the verge of reshaping itself, and we as Americans have a great responsibility in transitioning to a future that works for the betterment not only of all Americans, but of all people living together on this planet.
Some may call me an idealist. But, I see myself merely as an individual trying to push for real, obtainable changes that can dramatically better the lives of as many people as possible.
This is why I've decided to run for office. I believe that we can do things much better than we are currently, and I'm optimistic that these changes will occur if we elect representatives who are actually concerned with keeping our best interests at heart.
I can't make any false promises. After all, I'm only one person. But, I can promise that if elected, I'll spend every moment I have in Washington raising Hell, and making sure everyone knows who real Americans are and what they stand for.
As I've said before, I'm not interesting in making friends in high places. I could care less if every other politician and lobbyist in Congress came to loathe my very presence (but I have full-faith there are fellow like-minded individuals who I would love to work alongside). I have one mission and one mission only -- fighting for the betterment of the American people.
It is my hope that the great people of Michigan's 6th district will help me in carrying out that mission.
John M. Lawrence
Green Party candidate for US Congress
Michigan's 6th District.
